It’s the news everyone dreads—a call from the hospital. And it’s about one of the most important people in the world…...Your mother.

You hear the nurse talking urgently through your TELEPHONE and you realize it’s serious….

You grab your REMOTE CONTROL and turn down the volume on your PLASMA TV that’s playing your favorite DVD movie. You push the BUTTON and the SPEAKERS go mute. You press “save” on the KEYBOARD of your COMPUTER.

“Yes, she’s okay,” the nurse tells you. “But you need to come to the HOSPITAL right away.” That’s all you need to hear. You yell to your spouse and grab your CELLPHONE to call your siblings. “Is she alright?” your wife asks frantically. She was using the VACUUM CLEANER and WASHING MACHINE and didn’t hear the conversation.

“Yes, but hurry,” you reply, reaching to turn off the STOVE.

Your wife springs into action—she pushes the TOYS out of the way, grabs a WATER BOTTLE from the REFRIGERATOR and closes the MICROWAVE door.

You run to the bedroom and put on that new SUNBLOCK SHIRT she got you and check yourself in the MIRROR. You notice the glint off your SOLAR PANELS shines brightly through the WINDOW. You’re sweating and are glad the AIR CONDITIONER and AIR PURIFIER are working.

Your wife opens the LATCH to the front door. You notice she’s wearing those EARRINGS you got her for Christmas, the ones you put in with the CD of her favorite singer.

You unlock the car with your REMOTE KEY and rev up the ENGINE. Your wife opens the POWER WINDOWS while you adjust the POWER SEATS.

You leave the RADIO off, and are impatient at the STOPLIGHT, even though you can already see the CELLPHONE TOWERS on top of the hospital. Your wife is talking to your other family members on her CELLPHONE.

You pull up to the toll booth and the SCANNER beeps you through quickly. Your wife glances at her WATCH, and you remember she needs a new BATTERY.

You enter the hospital through the AUTOMATIC DOOR and a receptionist uses an IPAD to give you the room number. The indoor temperature is cool and you remember reading about the new INSULATION the hospital used in construction. You quickly push the ELEVATOR BUTTON for the second floor.

You reach the room and there is your mother, lying on a RECLINING BED, with a BREATHING TUBE in her mouth. She’s connected to NUMEROUS HOSPITAL DEVICES, some of which display readouts on a COMPUTER SCREEN. You try not to panic, as you see various SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS lying on a nearby SILVER tray.

“Your mother is on MEDICATION,” says a doctor walking into the room. He has a STETHOSCOPE around his neck and EYEGLASSES perched on his nose. “She fell and sustained some injuries, but she will be okay.” You see the BANDAGES on her face and arms, and the doctor notices your concern.

“We’ll take some X-RAYS to be sure she didn’t break any bones,” he says. “And she’s already on ANTIBIOTICS, so we’ll catch any infection before it starts.” You take a deep breath of relief as you realize she’ll be okay. You grasp your mother’s arm and notice she’s still wearing her favorite BRACELET.

It's Finally Here....Access Market Club on Your iPad!


I love my iPhone and my new iPad, but one of my big frustrations with both Apple devices was not being able to look at our very own Trade Triangles and MarketClub charts.
Now for the good news!  That problem has been solved for me with three apps that all work with MarketClub.

Puffin Web Browser:
  It is a cute name, only $2.99, and easily downloadable from the App Store. The Puffin app works just like the Safari browser that is already installed on your iPad and iPhone, but it displays Flash content.  Its creators, CloudMosa Inc., claim it “is a wicked fast web browser and renders the full versions of web pages quickly and reliably.  It also supports Flash with excellent performance on iPads and iPhones.”

Personally, I stick with Safari when surfing the web until I see something that is interesting and requires Flash, then I switch to one of the three browsers we are reviewing here today.

Photon Flash Player Browser for iPad:  
According to USA Today, who gives this browser five stars, “Photon browser is a powerful and versatile Safari alternative that excels in its flash support…”  This browser can be used instead of Safari to look at MarketClub charts.  Created by Appsverse Inc., the current cost of this browser is $4.99.
Now here is my current favorite for viewing and drawing on MarketClub charts:

OnLive Desktop Plus:  
This is an awesome app! Not only does put a Windows like desktop on the iPad (now that’s a little freaky!), but it also includes three Microsoft programs:  Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. You get all three programs when you download the app.
  OnLive Desktop Plus is a monthly subscription service, at $4.99 a month.  It offers the best control of our charts and studies. You will be able to draw trendlines, use the Fibonacci tool, and do practically everything you can do on your laptop and desktop machines.  This is my favorite way to access MarketClub on my iPad.

Steve Jobs, Apple, the iPad, and King Gillette


On Wednesday, after much hype and drama, Steve Jobs walked onstage and unveiled Apple’s latest creation - the iPad. Having watched almost every key address for Apple for many years we, like many others, were disappointed that the product didn’t live up to the hype. Nonetheless, Apple will sell a boatload of these products, but not as many as the iPhone.

Upon reflection, it occurred to me that Steve Jobs is changing the whole business model of Apple and we don’t believe anyone has caught on to this yet.

In all the reports we’ve read after the launch of the iPad, we think every writer /analyst missed this key point: Steve Jobs wants to be like King Gillette.

If you don’t know who King Gillette was, you may not old enough to shave. King Gillette started his business at the beginning of the century. His business model is what I believe Apple’s business model will be in the future.

Long ago, King Gillette decided to practically give the razor away at or below cost, but sell the razor blades separately.

So here’s what we think, we think Apple wants to give the iPhone and the iPad to as many people as possible at cost or with a small profit. Remember now, AT&T subsidized the iPhone and Apple gets a slice of the pie from every AT&T customer that has an iPhone. Now why would they do that you might ask?

The key reason, we would argue, is that Apple wants the magic of recurring revenues. This is the dream of many companies - to have millions of folks paying a small amount of money every month for using a service. What makes Apple stand out is the fact that they have an army of developers who are writing code for some very cool apps. Yes, there is an app for that. In fact, there is an app for almost every idea ever thought of.

Not only has the app store been widely successful, but Apple also has iTunes, and iBooks along with iTV coming down the road. So this is what we believe Apple’s business model is going to be: with 125 million people who have giving Apple their contact and credit card information, Apple has a huge base of customers much like the newspapers and magazines did in the ’60s and ’70s, but on a much smaller scale. Now Apple can upsell products to those customers at will. The genius part about all of this is the fact that other people are creating products to be sold through the Apple store. Apple just reinvented the King Gillette model in a thoroughly modern way. Hat’s off to you Steve.

That’s my take on Apple’s stealth business model.
